1th day: Trek to the Pan de Azúcar Peak at 4600mts. The hike begins in La Culata at 3000mts.
We´ll walk for approximately 4 hours to a valley covered by typical Páramo vegetation and several streams. In the afternoon, we set up our base camp at a waterfall, the starting point for the descent to Pan de Azúcar Peak the next day. Here, we´ll pitch our tents (3700m).
2nd day: We´ll leave early in the morning. After 2,5 hours descent we´ll clamber the peak, a sandy landscape -moon like- compared to a glacier moraine. Mostly from this point you will have a impressive view over the snow covered peaks of Sierra Nevada Park and Maracaibo Lake of Zulia state. The ascent becomes very funny. Waggling, jumping and sliding we´ll shortly reach the base camp. We´ll hike for 3 hours until we reach our second camp ground at the Laguna Carbonera (4170m).
3rd day: After breakfast we hike four hours to the hot springs of la Musuy (3000m). here we will take a relaxing bath. In the afternoon our transport will pick us up and we will drive 2 hours back to Merida city.
